Middle School
"Activities are a way for us to have a fun break during the school day. It's cool to pick something that we can learn more about while hanging out with friends!"
Bella, 7th Grade
The Middle School years are a time of exploration for 5th through 8th Graders. With this in mind, hallmark programs like band, string ensemble, chorus and dance are offered along with a variety of other programs which include woodworking, outdoor clubs, technology clubs, robotics, Makerspace and service clubs. Middle School teachers embrace this opportunity to engage with our students on a level that is different from our core academic programs. The Middle School schedule was developed to allow for multiple activity periods throughout the school year.

Community service in the Middle School is based on Collegiate’s core value of community defined as “A commitment to responsive and compassionate citizenship and service on campus, in the local community, and in the broader world.” All service experiences emphasize the importance of building reciprocal relationships with both individuals and organizations. Each student’s community service experience stresses the importance of preparation, action, and reflection. While there is no service hour requirement in the Middle School, service is an integral part of the curriculum. Middle School programs build on volunteer projects undertaken in the Lower School and prepare students for the service requirement in the Upper School.
