Arts
The Theater Department at Collegiate engages and inspires students in classes and productions that range from classic to modern works. We not only train and support the next generation of theatre artists but also provide theatre arts classes that promote lifelong learning in critical thinking, and celebrating the power of the theatre to illuminate our common bonds cross-culturally. Through educational theater, we contribute to the viability and vitality of the theater arts and provide cultural enrichment for all students in acting, film and technical theater. The theater department works to nurture creativity, academic integrity, and professionalism in its students. In concurrence with the initiatives of Collegiate, it is the belief that the study and practice of the performing arts depend upon a diverse community of learning in which a spirit of social responsibility and principled citizenship is fostered. The theater department at Collegiate is dedicated to providing students with the artistic and intellectual foundation necessary for a successful life in the arts as citizens of the world.
"We hope to promote drama and theatre as civilizing agents within society and to provoke and sustain interest in the theatre as a source of truth and insight into the human condition." Mike Boyd,
Director of Performing Arts
"The Thespian Troupe is absolutely wonderful because it's more than just a regular club. It is made up of a wide array of people and this group is one of the most genuine, open and accepting group of people I've ever met. They become like a family to you, and I've never felt a love quite like this anywhere else." Aven, 12th Grade
