Collegiate is a JK-12 day school with approximately 1697 students.

  • When was Collegiate founded?

Collegiate began as the Collegiate School for Girls in 1915, located in downtown Richmond. The school moved to its current 55-acre location in Richmond's West End and became coed in 1960. We now have additional athletics facilities on our Robins Campus in Goochland County, just a few miles from our Mooreland Road Campus, and the Collegiate School Aquatics Center is located in Chesterfield County.
  • How are diversity and inclusion embraced at Collegiate?

Collegiate's Lower, Middle and Upper Schools host a student diversity group called Mosaic, in which students of various ethnic, religious and racial backgrounds meet informally to discuss issues related to diversity, plan awareness activities and sometimes simply interact socially. Mosaic Too provides a setting for Collegiate's faculty and staff to discuss and collaborate on how best to embrace and support our diverse students.

  • In what ways is Collegiate unique among independent schools?

While preparing our students for success in college is a significant part of our mission, we intentionally focus on preparing them to succeed in life, in a global world where their critical thinking skills and creativity will help them make significant contributions. We are committed at every level and in every grade to expanding our students’ knowledge and understanding of the world in which we live and into developing their ability to become responsible and caring citizens.
