Collegiate Honors Four Long-Time Faculty Members

Collegiate School celebrated four long-time faculty members this afternoon in the Sharp Academic Commons as they head into retirement at the end of this school year.
Faculty, staff, alumni, parents and friends gathered in the Estes Cafe as Head of School Steve Hickman reflected on what Lower School music teacher Beth Tracy, Lower School librarian Susan Overton, 4th Grade teacher Blair Chewning and 1st Grade teacher Kathryn Oden have meant to the School.

“This is one of those days that are bittersweet,” Mr. Hickman said. “We celebrate these amazing educators, but we begin our goodbyes.”

Mr. Hickman began with the number 124, explaining that it represented the total years of service to Collegiate between the four women. He then spoke about the honorees and described just some of their many accomplishments.

“These four educators and beautiful people embody what this School is about in terms of the relationships they’ve developed. We are so grateful for them and all they have done for Collegiate.”
