Collegiate Students Wrap Up Spring Concert Season

During the past month, Collegiate musicians and dancers have been busy showcasing their talents at various concerts and recitals.
Among the events held on campus in April and May were the Lower School Spring Concert, which featured students participating in string ensembles, band and Cantorion, as well as several piano recitals. Guitar students in the Middle and Upper School were also featured in concert, and a Middle and Upper School Instrumental Concert and a Middle and Upper School Choral Concert and an took place on April 12 and 20, respectively.

The Middle and Upper School Jazz Concert was held in early May, and Collegiate dance students chose to showcase their talents in two concerts this year — one specifically for Upper School dancers, which was held in late April, and a separate concert for Lower and Middle School dancers, which is scheduled for May 20.

Mike Boyd, Collegiate’s Director of Performing Arts, said this time of year is always special for the students, but this spring their performances have displayed a new level of excitement.

“The confidence and joy displayed on and off stage are a credit to the teachers who have done a wonderful job selecting a wide variety of material, planning each rehearsal and all of the logistics involved with each concert and preparing these students in and out of class,” he said. “Every group performs with such maturity beyond their current ages. This has truly been a special year, and we are very excited for our future.”
