Middle Schoolers Take a Winter Tree Walk

Cindy Cargas’ Middle School science students enjoyed a “winter tree walk” with arborist Scott Turner of TrueTimber and examined their adopted trees in the Pitt Hall courtyard, outside Reed-Gumenick Library and in front of Flippen Hall.

As part of their yearlong tree project, the students observe, sketch, photograph, measure, identify, research, name and bond with their trees. Mr. Turner talked to the students about pollination, tree growth and the differences between the types of trees found on Collegiate’s campus.
