Collegiate Honors Paige Tinney-Reed for Excellence

The 2022 Clarence B. Williams Award is presented to Paige Tinney-Reed.
In 1994 the Clarence B. Williams Fund was established by Burrell Stulz in memory of her father. The endowment funds an award that recognizes outstanding work performed in “special” academic areas by resource teachers in the Lower School.

The following remarks were made by Head of Lower School Debbie Miller at the Opening of School Meeting, held August 2022.

This year’s Clarence B. Williams Award recipient loves to learn and loves to help students see the “small wonders” around them. She encourages and supports students with a calm demeanor while sharing joy along the way. She is excited when the children show growth in their learning and she helps them celebrate with small, frequent words of encouragement. She works to know our students well, and she cares deeply about them, developing students as strong readers, writers and mathematicians. She wants learning to be joyful.

The hard work, dedication and kindness of our award recipient is obvious every day. She loves to help all our kindergarteners really notice the environment around them, especially in the Lower School Garden, where she teaches them the full process of gardening so they can truly take pride in eating basil, lettuces and the other fresh produce from their labors. Her determination to nurture our garden back to health, along with many other staff members, is much appreciated by all who enter the lovely spot on our Lower School campus. Additionally, she gets to know each Kindergartener well as she welcomes and interacts with them early in the morning when she sees them during movement classes throughout the week and when she sees them off at carpool each afternoon. Summer is also a time that she is present and busy working in the garden and teaching in our Hooked on Books camp. Her energy abounds!

The Lower School depends on the “can-do” attitude and willingness to help that our recipient brings to each day during the year. Please join me in congratulating Paige-Tinney-Reed, our 2022 Clarence B. Williams Award recipient.
