Collegiate Wants Your Feedback and Input, May 6, 2020

We ask parents to complete a short survey on Collegiate’s response to COVID-19 and our emergency remote learning measures.
In this communication is an important survey and we need your input. (We ask that JK and Kindergarten parents check the Early Childhood box when completing the survey.) Once we receive and review your responses, we plan to host a virtual community meeting to share findings, our plans and hear your questions. Please stay tuned for an invitation to that meeting.

Dear Parents,

I write to you from Collegiate’s campus. The quiet, although peaceful, seems very out of place. I miss the people who fill this space with engagement and purpose and know, to a person, Cougars are missing our gathering times. If our grounds could speak, they would beg for the presence of your children, JK-12th Grade running, walking, playing, laughing, learning and joining in our daily gatherings.

We miss them and you more than words can depict. However, even though not “here,” you are with us and continue to provide meaning and purpose to our craft as educators. Our collective hope to rejoin as soon as it is safe and possible for us to do so binds us.

In the meantime, we continue our commitment to health, safety, timely communication and soliciting your feedback for continual improvement. As such, I am asking that you take a short, five-minute survey on Collegiate’s response to COVID-19 and our emergency remote learning measures by Monday, May 11

Independent School Management (ISM), a comprehensive management-support firm for private and independent schools in the United States and abroad, is providing this confidential survey. Our peer schools nationally are also using surveys produced by ISM. Survey results specific to Collegiate will be shared with us to help us improve and learn from this experience, and prepare for the near and long-term future. Your voice matters.

We are so very grateful for your enduring support and partnership. The months of March and April were not what any of us imagined; however, our community certainly rose to the occasion with a true team spirit and collective will to endure.

Collegiate’s faculty and staff remain heroic in their response and desire to provide excellence, while modeling a lifelong learner’s mindset. As parents, your partnership, encouragement, feedback and patience allowed us to grow, improve and deliver our mission from a distance, albeit for emergency remote learning. Your children, our students, are to be commended for their resilience and cooperation.

We seek to improve and learn from what we experience, in the best and most challenging times. We want to ensure that as a School, we are doing everything we can to support your child and your family. COVID-19 has put much of what we took for granted on pause; however, our desire for continual growth and improvement is alive and well.

Thank you for helping us to honor this calling and deliver our mission: to create a diverse and inclusive community of learners committed to a challenging and supportive educational experience that will foster the intellectual, moral, emotional and physical development of each student. I greatly appreciate you taking the time to complete this survey by Monday, May 11.

Sincerely,

Penny B. Evins
