Important End-of-Year Event Dates, April 16, 2020

In this letter, we share operational details regarding our end-of-year schedule and links specific to each division.
Dear Collegiate Families,

With each communication, we hope to provide you with clarity and express our shared disappointment about not being together on campus. Beyond and perhaps above these goals, I want to express Collegiate’s concern for lives affected and lost due to COVID-19. This pandemic continues to challenge all of us, near and far. Although we are separated, we hope to remain emotionally connected and provide you with what you need from us. For the past three weeks, I have held a virtual faculty staff meeting and this past week, more than 100 colleagues joined me. It is clear that our professional community misses each other, our Cougar students and you. During a time of great change, this desire to gather remains constant. We remain committed to our community and I have no doubt that when we rejoin, we will have an even greater appreciation for each other and the small moments we miss so very much.

Culminating Events
We are holding tight to our goal of an in-person graduation to celebrate the Class of 2020. We are asking families of seniors to hold specific dates. Information specific to seniors and their families was sent in a separate email.

The gatherings Collegiate holds are meaningful to our students, faculty and staff, families and alumni. We know children thrive on routines and as such, this disruption and emergency remote learning is challenging. My colleagues and our student leaders are working hard to plan meaningful, safe and practical opportunities to honor such routines and traditions. As we navigate what can be held virtually, what should be planned for the fall and what will be added to ease future transitions, we are doing our very best to employ empathy, respect and pragmatism.

Summer Programs
The Governor’s mandate for us to close through June 10 impacts our summer programs. Our Auxiliaries Team, in partnership with Academic and Athletic leadership, hope to offer programs on campus as soon as it is safe to do so. Until that time, our plannings and offerings will remain fluid to allow for them remotely. (Please read this email that was sent on April 7, 2020, to families that have registered.)

During this challenging time, we thank our entire community for your patience and support. Although we miss our students and families, we want you to remain safe and healthy, and we are encouraged by a shared commitment to doing our best in the face of COVID-19 and required distancing.

Please take care of yourselves and your loved ones, and do not hesitate to let me know if there is anything we can do for you, albeit from a distance.

Warmly,
Penny B. Evins
