Collegiate Launches Remote Learning

Collegiate School began remote learning this week for its entire JK-12th Grade student body in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.
To prepare for the launch of remote learning, Collegiate’s more than 200 faculty members across Lower, Middle and Upper Schools took part in 100 training sessions over five days. With an average of seven teachers per session, that totaled 700 “teacher hours” of instruction.

Parents were sent the Collegiate JK-12 Continuity of Learning Plan, which outlined the ambitious program. Students and teachers prepared their new work stations, labs and offices, and tested out the various learning platforms they will use in the coming weeks.

Chief Academic Officer Susan Droke expressed how proud she is of the Collegiate community as it undertakes this new endeavor and writes a new chapter in the School’s history.

She referenced a quote from author Simon Sinek, Working hard for something we don’t care about is called stress. Working hard for something we love is called passion.”

“I know that the passion we have for providing the best education possible for our young people will shine through as we begin this process,” Mrs. Droke said. “We are one School and a community of learners. We are all in this together!”
