Middle School Students Place Second in Stock Market Game

Collegiate 5th Graders Essam Shah and Hunt Brabrand earned second place in the Middle School division of the Stock Market Game, a comprehensive economics and personal finance education program for Grades 4-12 run regionally by the Virginia Commonwealth University Center for Economic Education in the School of Business.
In the game, students are given $100,000 to invest in an online, virtual stock market portfolio. Hunt and Essam finished the game with $112,006. Faculty advisor, Middle School math teacher Mike Peters, said both students performed their own research on stocks and spent a lot of time keeping up with them.
