Middle School Market Opens with State Fair Theme

Cougar Enterprises, a Collegiate Middle School student activity group focused on entrepreneurship, held the first of its three markets on the lawn outside Flippen Hall. Students in Cougar Enterprises explore ideas and skills needed to identify, create and launch a product or service. “Along the way, they discover the entrepreneurial aspects of startups combined with financial literacy lessons,” said Middle School Latin teacher Amy Leibowitz, who serves as the group’s faculty advisor.

The state fair-themed market offered stations featuring Skee-Ball, celebrity knock down, ring toss, balloon popping, pop-a-shot and make your own calm down jar.

The Golden Cougar Bank, Collegiate’s Middle School financial institution, also was open during the market so that students could open new accounts and make deposits or withdrawals.
