Del Harris to Coach USA Basketball Squad

Collegiate's Del Harris has been selected by USA Basketball to serve as a coach for the U16 national boys basketball training camp, which will be held May 22-30 at University High School in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

Thirty-two athletes born after Jan. 1, 2003, have been invited to try out for 12 spots to represent USA Basketball at the FIBA U16 Americas Qualifying Tournament in Brazil from June 3-9. Should the USA squad finish in the top four, it would qualify for the U17 2020 World Championship.

The Cougars are 54-27 during Harris' three-year tenure as head boys basketball coach. This past winter, they earned a share of the Prep League regular season championship. He directs the Del Harris Basketball Academy and coaches the Team Richmond-Garner Road 17U Elite AAU squad.

"I’m very humbled and appreciative of the honor to represent Collegiate School," Harris said. "I'm excited to work with some of the top players in the country and very grateful for the opportunity to influence young people through the game of basketball and represent my country in a positive way."
