Collegiate Alum Featured on Discovery Channel

Collegiate alum Murray Fisher '93 is in a Discovery Channel story called "Take Back the Harbor," which details how he started a public high school in New York City 15 years ago to give students opportunities to help save the harbor while learning, and also how he launched The Billion Oyster Project as a special initiative of the school.
The Oyster Project has a goal of restoring 1 billion live oysters to the New York harbor by 2030. The 500-plus students who attend New York Harbor School grow oysters to plant in the harbor as part of their curriculum. With funding from the National Science Foundation, the project has spread to numerous schools across New York, giving thousands of high school and middle school students opportunities to learn about marine science while helping save the harbor.
