Thirteen Collegiate School seniors were inducted into the Cum Laude Society today during Upper School Assembly and were recognized in Seal Athletic Center with the 13 students inducted in the fall. Last evening, the inductees and their families enjoyed a special dinner in their honor in McFall Hall.
Collegiate alum Liza Jarvis Scott ‘99, who joined the University of Richmond-owned investment firm Spider Management in 2009 with a focus on public equities and real estate, served as keynote speaker for the assembly. A Cum Laude inductee herself as a student, she offered remarks on her career and how Collegiate instilled in her a love of learning and a desire to achieve. She told students that Collegiate has prepared them well for whatever they choose to pursue, even if that is still unknown.
“You don’t have to know now what you want to do,” Mrs. Scott said. “You might have some idea, but what form that takes may change over time. And that’s okay, because Collegiate has given you the foundation to be successful as your desires change or themarketplace changes.”
Students in Collegiate’s chorus and the Camerata musical group performed before and after Upper School science teacher Rebecca Hottman called all of the honorees forward for recognition.
