On Saturday, Jan. 27, the boys' and girls' varsity basketball teams hosted the Jacob's Chance organization for a fun-filled basketball clinic from 10 a.m.-noon in the Seal Athletic Center.
Jacob's Chance, a nonprofit organization, assists young people with special needs in enjoying playing sports and having rewarding experiences doing so. The children from the organization were also able to attend both the girls' and boys' varsity games on Friday night to show their Cougar support.
Coach Rives Fleming, head girls' basketball coach, had this to say about the day: "We had a great group from both the boys' and girls' teams out there to partner up with the kids in the program. We paired up and played, ran stations working on basic basketball skills and had full-court games as well. Seemed like a great day for all; in talking with our kids after, I know they had a great day working with these kids. A lot of great smiles and fun playing basketball."
Coach Del Harris, head boys' basketball coach, was in agreement with Coach Fleming's outlook on the day and added, "It was a great day for community outreach and for our basketball programs. It was certainly a rewarding experience for all involved."
