Girls' Varsity Tennis Wins LIS Championship

Collegiate's varsity girls' tennis team won the LIS championship on Nov. 2, earning a total of 61 points after defeating teams from St. Catherine's, Trinity, St.Anne's-Belfield, St.Gertrude, Veritas and Covenant.
Singles highlights included Helena Huff winning against Grace Caplice of St. Catherine's, 10-1; Sophie Mitchell beating Lindsay White of St.Catherine's, 10-3; Anya Sood defeating Claire Hackney of St.Catherine's, 10-3; and Alyssa McDaniel beating Grace Williams of St.Catherine's, 10-8.

Doubles highlights included Helena Huff and Sophie Mitchell's win over St.Catherine's, 10-3; Anya Sood and Alyssa McDaniel's victory over another St.Catherine's pair, 10-1; and Bailey Andress and Saanvi Mittal's triumph over a final St.Catherine's duo, 10-4.

Once the dust settled, six Collegiate athletes were named All-LIS: Helena Huff, Sophie MItchell, Anya Sood, Alyssa McDaniel, Bailey Andress and Saanvi Mittal. Helena Huff was also named the overall tournament champion. Way to go, Cougars!

The VISAA Tournament begins on Tuesday Nov. 7 at the higher seed. Collegiate is currently ranked 2nd, St. Catherine's 5th and Trinity 7th.
