Grandparents and Special Friends Day a Success

Collegiate School Lower Schoolers were delighted to spend the afternoon with their loved ones during Grandparents and Special Friends Day today.
The guests of our JK-4th Grade Cougars were welcomed in the Estes Multipurpose Room with instrumental music provided by the 3rd and 4th Grade Strings Ensemble and by members of the 4th Grade Cantorion, who performed three songs.

Head of School Steve Hickman shared fond memories of cherished time with his grandparents and his children's grandmother, and reiterated to guests how important a role they play in helping the Lower Schoolers thrive.

"This relationship is so incredibly important," he said. "It shapes and influences their lives."

Head of Lower School Debbie Miller shared a sweet story of how the classmates of her own JK granddaughter join her granddaughter in calling her "DD" whenever and wherever they see her on the Lower School campus.

"Not only do our teachers take care of your grandchildren, this grandmother takes care of your sweet grandchildren," she assured them.

The grandparents and special friends spent the rest of the afternoon in the company of their Cougars, visiting their classrooms, taking fun photos together, sharing snacks and simply making special memories.
