Fourteen Collegiate School seniors were inducted into the Cum Laude Society today during Upper School Assembly and were recognized onstage with the 13 students inducted in the fall.
Before Collegiate faculty member Liz Bowling called each of the 27 students forward for recognition, Collegiate’s musical group Camerata performed.
Collegiate parent and Richmond Commonwealth’s Attorney Michael Herring then offered the honorees -and all seniors present - congratulatory words of wisdom.
“You have become the students you are not in spite of the rigor and hard work in your classes, but because of it,” said Mr. Herring, whose son Destana introduced him and was also an inductee. “What will distinguish you from other bright, intelligent young people you meet will be the impact you make…. Anybody can complain. Be the bold person who propoes what or how to do things differently.”
Head of School Steve Hickman also congratulated the students for their hard work, and current Cum Laude President, senior Price Withers, encouraged his classmates to “appreciate the joy of learning.”
