McFall Hall Renovation Project Begins

Renovation of McFall Hall, Collegiate’s Upper and Middle School cafeteria, got underway this week.

When completed, the improved space will feature an interior makeover and will nearly double the size of the building, from 9,500 square feet to 15,500 square feet. It also will provide an aesthetic boost to the cafeteria’s Mooreland Road frontage.

In recent years, McFall has experienced the same constraints that were felt years ago in Burke Hall, the former Lower School cafeteria: limited space for dining, outdated and undersized kitchen and storage space, and an older, inefficient building infrastructure.

The McFall renovation will “right size” the building for the current student population and is expected to take 12 to 15 months to complete. When school resumes in August, 5th through 12th Graders will still be able to use the cafeteria while construction continues.

Other projects underway on campus this summer include renovations to the:

Jim Hickey Track oval, shotput and jump areas, to improve their accessibility and functionality;
Grover Jones Field, replacing synthetic turf with a recommended multi-blend system; and
Seal Athletic Center, adding retractable grandstands, a new AV system, restrooms for public use and improvements to the Training Room and rehab space.

We sincerely thank the generous donors to the capital improvements campaign, whose contributions are supporting these enhancements.
