New Lower School Dining Hall Progresses

Now named Centennial Hall, the Lower School's new dining hall is well under way with an opening date of fall 2015.
The pace of work has quickened during the last two weeks of construction on the Centennial Hall site, according to Scott Carson, Director of Facilities and Construction. "The floor slab was poured on May 2, and, since that time, Conquest, Moncure & Dunn and their subcontractors have made a lot of progress toward our goal of opening the new Lower School dining center during the fall of 2015," Mr. Carson says. "Current work includes roof membrane installation, interior partition systems, rough-in work for MEP systems and exterior masonry. In the coming weeks we will see exterior glazing, interior finishes, equipment installation and continued site work."

When complete, the new facility will be larger than the present Burke Hall cafeteria, will have modern kitchen equipment that will help make preparations for Lower School lunch more efficient, and a comfortable interior that will make the dining experience more enjoyable. The new dining area measures approximately 4,489 sf (a 60% increase over Burke Hall), and the new kitchen/serving area measures approximately 2,466 sf (a 111% increase over Burke Hall).
