Cougars Prevail at Ethics Bowl

On Saturday, Jan. 24, Collegiate hosted the first annual Virginia High School Ethics Bowl, featuring teams from Deep Run High School, Appomattox Regional Governor's School, The Old Stone School and Collegiate School.
After three rounds, the teams which proceeded to the finals were Appomattox Regional Governor's School and Collegiate School.  After a hearty discussion, Collegiate came out ahead in the finals. Congratulations to our winning team: Jordan Joseph, Scott Werwath, Peter Mahoney, Eliza Wittmann, Cooper Moelchert, Taylor Bostic and Hart Johnson.

Because we are a small bowl, we'll face off via Skype with another small bowl, and the winner of that will proceed to UNC for nationals! While our bowl's winner is not assured a place in the national championship because of the small nature of this year's bowl, we hope to exceed the 6-team minimum that will assure next year's winner a spot at UNC.

"The spirit of the day was so collegial; it gives me hope that efforts like this will prepare our students to lead in a way that will best serve us all," said Rhiannon Boyd, Collegiate's coordinator of the Ethics Bowl. "The judges from every round, 12 in total, were extraordinarily complimentary of the abilities of all of our young students."
