Four students and two faculty members have returned from a 12-day stay in Delhi, India where they attended the Modern School's Community Development Leadership Summit.
Upper School art teacher Pam Sutherland and chemistry teacher Susan Fourness-Ewell accompanied juniors Abigail Glasgow, Cole Reifsnider, Haley Rising and Tori Spivey to this annual conference which brings together students from countries around the world. While there, they visited heritage landmarks such as the Taj Mahal and Ghandi's tomb and attended sessions with speakers who presented on topics pertinent to international cooperation. The group also participated in a day of community service at The Cheshire Home in Delhi, which is a residence for adults with physical and mental disabilities. The Cheshire Home also has an entrepreneurial enterprise where residents design and create paper-based products and sell them at local craft stores to help financially support the non-profit. Our students assisted in this social enterprise. Our two teachers and two of our students were hosted by International Emerging Leaders Conference 2012 participants from India Anandita Rana and Avani Singh -- evidence of the lasting relationships being established our international activities. Welcome back, delegates, and thank you for representing Collegiate in Delhi!
