Collegiate Theater Shines at SPARC

This past summer the School of the Performing Arts in the Richmond Community (SPARC) held it’s annual showcase of student-based works. Collegiate’s own Peyton Spivey was featured as her play, The Runaways, was presented before a sold out audience.

The Runaways was one of eight plays performed as a staged reading in SPARC’s new home on Hamilton St. Peyton’s play was one of eight selected from the 160 plays submitted in the nationally acclaimed New Voices for the Theater competition. This competition cultivates young writing talent from across the state of Virginia and this was the first time Peyton had submitted a play. Not bad for a first try!

The Runaways was also directed by Collegiate’s own Jenny Hundley and the cast included fellow Cougars Margaret Clark, Will Wickham and alum, Dylan Moon. We are very fortunate to have such a breadth of talent in both the students and faculty. Look for more plays from Peyton in the near future. Please congratulate all who took part in this wonderful endeavor and look for more budding talent in our Middle and Upper School productions this year.
