Collegiate Athletic Hall of Fame to Induct 6 Athletes, 2 Teams

Six former Collegiate School athletes and two teams will be inducted into their alma mater’s Athletic Hall of Fame in a ceremony during half-time of the Collegiate-St. Christopher's football game on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010.
The following are the members of the fifth Hall of Fame class:

Pearson Grymes Gibson ’54
    (all-city, all-state field hockey player; Reed Athletic Award recipient; athletic council president)

Trib LaPrade ’81
    (multi-event track and field athlete who holds the school pole vault record,15-7¼; Prep League, state, and Penn Relays pole vault champion; outstanding senior athlete)

Anne Overton ’82
    (All-League of Independent Schools field hockey and lacrosse; varsity basketball letter winner; recipient of Reed Athletic Award)

Walter Spence ’84
    (six-year varsity lacrosse veteran; All-Prep League, All-State, All-American selection)

David Cox ’90
    (All-Prep League soccer and lacrosse; All-South soccer; member teams that won the Prep League soccer title in 1986, '87, '88. and '89 and the TILT championshipin 1988)

Katie Schoolwerth Gustafson ’96
    (All-League of Independent Schools in winter track, field hockey, and lacrosse; co-recipient of Reed Athletic Award)

1972 varsity football team
    (finished 9-0; six players accepted Division I scholarships; three were All-Prep League on offense, four on defense; Grover Jones was league coach of the year)

1997 varsity girls’ soccer team
    (finished 18-0, won the League of Independent Schools title; top ranked in Central Virginia by the Richmond Times-Dispatch; outscored opponents 99-6)
