Collegiate Alumni in College Sports Report

Virginia goalkeeper Bud Petit '03 had 16 saves, but the Cavaliers fell 12-11 to Syracuse in double overtime in the semifinal round of the NCAA Division I lacrosse tournament May 24 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.  Mike Thompson '06 contributed an assist. UVA finished 14-4.

Petit was credited with 14 saves as the Cavaliers defeated Maryland 8-7 in overtime May 17 in Annapolis, MD, to advance to the Final Four of the NCAA lacrosse tournament.

Sara Hairfield '05,
a backup goal keeper for the University of Virginia lacrosse team, received the end-of-the-year award for dedication.  The Cavaliers finished 14-4 and won the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament.

Evan Bronson '05, who pitches for Trinity University (San Antonio, TX), was named to the 2008 Division III West Region All-Tournament team.  No. 5 seeded Trinity fell to No. 1 Chapman 4-3 in the regional final May 17 in Abilene, TX, and ended its season 35-15.  Bronson finished the year 9-3 with a 2.28 earned run average, 102 strikeouts, and just 19 walks in 83 innings.
