Collegiate & St. Christopher's Team Up For Canned Food Drive
While the football teams of Collegiate and St. Christopher's battle it out on the gridiron Saturday November 2, another competition between the schools will be going on as well -- one that will serve the Central Virginia Foodbank.
The students, parents and fans of both schools are urged to bring a bag
of canned goods to the game, with bragging rights determined by which
side has the bigger pile of bags on their side of the stands. The Richmond Times-Dispatch had an article in the Metro section on October 31 on this teaming up by these archrivals. Writer Michael Paul Williams talked to representatives from both schools, including Collegiate Community Council members Melissa Trask and Ellen Marsteller. For St. Christopher's student leaders, the writer interviewed Pierre Molster, president of St. Christopher's Student Council, and Stephen Davenport, president of The Missionary Society at St. Christopher's. For those attending the game, look for limited edition T-shirts, with Andy Warhol-esque art work, featuring a can of "Condensed Cougar Meat." Here's hoping this competitive and cooperative community service effort is the beginning of a great new tradition to enhance what is already a spirited rivalry.
