Collegiate Sweeps

Collegiate is 8-2 (10-2 overall) in Prep League after sweeping a double header Friday at Norfolk Academy. The Cougars came ready to play scoring 6 runs in the top of the 1st. The game started with an Evan Bronson walk, Bryan Barley was then hit by a pitch, and Noah Greenbaum singled to right center. This brought up our clean-up hitter, Evan Ocheltree, who proceeded to hit a line drive shot over the center field fence for his first career grand slam home run. Next up was Jarrett Leech who followed with a single and baby brother Ryley Leech smacked a home run which easily cleared the left field fence. We finished the game scoring 15 runs and being led by Noah Greenbaum's three hits, Evan Ocheltree's two hits, and Russell Wilson's three hits. Ryan Conway pitched a complete game striking out six. Defensively we played steady only having one error. Game 2 saw Collegiate jump out to a 2 run lead thanks to back-to-back singles by Barley and Greenbaum and a 2 run RBI double by Jarrett Leech. Noah Greenbaum also pitched a complete game striking out 7 in 5 innings. We were lead offensively with four players (Barley, Greenbaum, Jarrett Leech and Wilson) each getting 2 hits a piece. Defensively, we had another steady game again only making one error. Lastly, I would be remiss if I did not thank Barry and Pat Comess for their outstanding hospitality in feeding the team after the game. It was a buffet beyond buffets which would make the Easter Brunch at the Country Club of Virginia envious.
