White Cubs Take STAB away

The White Cub Team played very well in an away game at STAB yesterday in Charlottesville. The Cougars got the first game "jitters" out of their system early and jumped out to a 2-0 lead. STAB managed a solid rally to tie the score at 2-2 early in the second quarter. The Cougars missed a couple of scoring opportunities late in the half and went into the half tied at 2 a piece. Collegiate, lead by 8th grade game captains, Goalie Ned Lundvall and Attackman Mark Robins, pulled away from STAB in the final half. Robins ended up with 2 goals. Other offensive highlights were a sweet move to the cage and a strong finish by 7th grade attackman, Ben Sauer. Peter Jones and Bradstreet Peasley (1 goal) also contributed heavily in keeping the pressure on STAB's defense and goalie with several hard shots. Lundvall played superbly in goal and led a stingy defense. 7th graders Scott Pickett and Bo McGee played well along side 8th grader Sam Ludeman. James Cogar did an outstanding job on face-offs from his long-pole mid-field slot and was key in our man-down situations. Tosh Bance also made strong contributions at long-pole middie and close defense. Our midfielders were led by 8th graders Bryce Sweeney, Cole Hawthorne and Stuart Cosby. Hawthorne scored one goal from his midfield slot. All three pressured the STAB defense and did a remarkable job picking up ground balls and playing solid man defense. Our second line also contributed heavily with outstanding play from Trey Goggins, Walker Redd and Jake McDonald. Overall a great team effort by the White Cubs, and we look forward to hosting STAB later on in the season. It was a great afternoon for lacrosse and many thanks go out to our parents who made the trip to Charlottesville to see us play.
