Collaborative Newsletter Keeps Upper School French Students Connected

Upper School French teacher Dr. Mark Andrew Hall created a weekly newsletter, Les Dépêches de la Quarantaine (Dispatches from the Quarantine), to help keep his students connected during remote learning.
What emerged was a collaboration. Dr. Hall wrote a lead message, but his students added their own entries, recipes, playlists and stories about what they were reading, watching or doing. Each week, students submitted their entries on Friday, Dr. Hall corrected the French and then sent out the newsletter in the evening.

“My ultimate goal was simply to keep our tight-knit sense of community strong by sharing stories of how we were all spending our time in this strange new world,” he said. “I really looked forward to seeing what the students would submit. Putting this together really became the highlight of my week.”
