Study Hall Skills Coordinator

Collegiate School seeks a part-time Study Hall Skills Coordinator for its after school program. The Study Hall Skills Coordinator will typically work with students in grades 5-8. This is a part-time (16-20 hours/week), non-benefitted, 10-month position. Work hours will generally be from 2:40 - 6pm (Monday - Thursday), 2 - 6pm on Fridays during school year. Throughout the year, there are several days, including school holidays and parent teacher conferences, when the after school program is open all day. On these days, the Study Hall Skills Coordinator should expect to work 5-6 hours per day between 7:45 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
Responsibilities include:
  • Facilitates an hour long study hall with students in Grades 5-8, actively assists students with their homework and monitors students’ progress on homework
  • Formally and informally teaches strong study skills, including but not limited to organization of school planner, prioritization of tasks, time management, and quiz and test preparation
  • Meets regularly with Middle School administrators to build positive professional relationships between the School and after school program
  • Provides one on one academic support to students as necessary
  • Facilitates a variety of indoor and outdoor activities including, cooking, art, basketball, and gaga ball
  • Actively supervises Middle School students during a wide variety of enrichment activities that may take place on or off campus
  • Coordinates off-campus field trips
  • Helps maintain a safe and clean learning and play environment for Middle School students
  • Regularly attends monthly staff meetings and other planning meetings as needed
  • Adheres to all personnel policies, procedures and rules contained in the Faculty/Staff Handbook
  • Maintains productive relationships with School faculty and staff
Qualities of a successful candidate include:
  • A degree in a child-related field, preferably study skills training, and/or have extensive experience working with children in a group setting
  • Consistently demonstrates kindness, patience, and respect toward after school participants, parents, and colleagues
  • Is highly organized and collaborates with Collegiate School’s teachers and administrators to ensure students’ academic success
  • Candidate should be 21 years of age or older with a good driving record and a willingness to learn how to drive a minibus to transport students to and from activities and events
  • Demonstrates high levels of flexibility, and is a supportive colleague, ready and willing to step in and help in any way as needed
  • Exhibits professionalism, timeliness, strong work ethic, and a positive attitude
  • Effectively communicates the School’s shared purpose; builds trust among colleagues; is accountable; lives up to commitments
  • Understands the big picture and manages areas of responsibility in a manner consistent with the School’s mission and values
  • Relates to Collegiate community including faculty, staff, students and parents in a cooperative manner that helps others to achieve their best
