Collegiate 10th Grader Donovan Williams recently participated in the 2019 High School Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall in New York. To attend the series, Donovan was nominated as a 9th Grader through the All-Virginia Symphony Orchestra. He competed with more than 12,000 international applicants (mainly juniors and seniors) and achieved 1 of the 700 seats. He was the first violinist to be nominated and be accepted from the South Central Virginia Region in more than a decade and was accepted as a First Violinist in the Honors String Orchestra. During the five-day series, the musicians rehearsed and performed under master conductors and had the opportunity to meet other like-minded musicians from around the world. Congratulations, Donovan!
