Cougars Excel in Sports Over the Summer

Big congrats to several Collegiate Cougars, who earned accolades in their sports over the summer.

Collegiate 8th Grader Molly Hutchison won silver and bronze medals in compound archery at the Virginia Commonwealth Games in July. Molly also recently competed in the National Junior Olympic Archery Development Tournament in Raleigh, N.C.

Maggie Bostain, a junior lacrosse player, was one of 20 sophomores and 109 players overall (including six rising college sophomores) who were invited to try out for the 2019 U.S. women’s U-19 national team in August.

Hallie Brost, a sophomore on the girls’ field hockey team, was selected to try out for the U.S. Field Hockey U-17 junior national team. She made it through the first round of cuts and will participate in a final tryout in December.

Eighth Graders Drew Atiyeh and Graham Bor, who play on an Under-14 Junior Tennis Team, won their respective local, regional and sectional tournaments to advance to the JTT National tournament in November in Orlando, Florida. Only 16 teams from around the country make it to nationals, and a Richmond team will be representing the Mid-Atlantic Region.
