Upper School Counselor

Collegiate School seeks an energetic and committed Upper School Counselor to work closely with the faculty and administration of the division to promote the development and support the wellness of its students. This is a full-time, 10-month, benefited faculty position.
Responsibilities will include:
  • Work closely with students, faculty and families to provide individual counseling support, as needed
  • Coordinate with individual teachers and the Student Support Team to help identify and address specific student needs
  • Teach classes in support of the Health and Wellness curriculum
  • Provide assistance for students as they transition from 8th to 9th grade
  • Work as an integral member of the JK-12 counseling team
  • Present as part of an extensive parent education program
  • Facilitate referrals to community providers as appropriate, and communicate with outside professionals to support the continuity of care for students
  • Serve as an Upper School advisor
Qualities of a successful candidate will include:
  • A Master’s degree, preferably in counselor education
  • Experience counseling teenagers
  • Ability to develop strong rapport with students
  • Enthusiasm for professional growth
  • Commitment to broad participation in school life
  • Strong skills in communication, collaboration and consultation
  • Interpersonal skills for communicating effectively with and supporting all members of the Collegiate community, including students, parents, faculty and staff
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and confidentiality
  • Familiarity with the goals, objectives, and mission of an independent school
  • Experience in and commitment to the ongoing development and maintenance of an inclusive campus community
