Mike Boyd Completes Another Broadway In Richmond Stint
Collegiate Director of Performing Arts Mike Boyd completed his seventh season last night as the local percussionist for the Broadway in Richmond series at the Altria Theater.
Whenever a Broadway touring production comes to town and is in need of a percussionist, Mr. Boyd has been their go-to artist since 2009. While this year's series has a few more shows to come, Mr. Boyd's last scheduled performance for the season was last night, when he wrapped up a five-day stint as percussionist for Motown the Musical. Past shows have included Wicked (all three times it has been here), Mary Poppins and Newsies.

In addition to these shows, he has served as both the drum set player and percussionist in local productions of Mame and Gypsy at Virginia Repertory Theater and also for Dogwood Dell's productions in the summer which have in included Pippin, Hairspray, Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat, 42nd Street and Man of La Mancha.
