Upper School counselors provide a listening ear and offer support for students' personal concerns that impact their emotional and mental health such as stress revolving around academic and nonacademic-related pressures, peer relationships, family, substance use and abuse, disordered eating, self-image, transition, grief and any issue that interferes with the students daily functioning.
As Middle School students grow in curiosity and independence in the midst of an ever-changing world they ask, “What’s important to me?” “How can I best handle that situation?” Middle School counselors help address these questions by supporting students on a wide range of issues: making and keeping friends, using social media, handling family changes, managing stress and pressure, coping with grief and loss, and juggling the demands of school life.
Lower School counselors meet with each class each month to teach about and discuss
Collegiate School’s 5 core values: Respect, Honor, Excellence, Love of Learning and Community. Individual and small-group counseling sessions focus on managing social and emotional growth and development in a healthy way so that learning can occur in an uninhibited manner.
In each division, our counselors work with faculty, staff and parents to have in place a community of caring adults available to meet the changing needs of our students no matter the age.
