Spring Semester Offers Students International Travel Opportunities

Collegiate School students are embarking on several international trips this semester during which they will immerse themselves in the cultures of other countries and become travelers of the world.
Collegiate students were given opportunities to travel to Morocco, Mexico, Italy and China between January and May as part of the School’s global education program.

Five senior French students and their trip leaders will visit Morocco from Jan. 13-20 for a weeklong language and cultural immersion experience. While in Morocco, students will spend time at Collegiate’s partner school, George Washington Academy, as well as visit the cities of El Jadida and Rabat.

Senior Lauren Brizzolara is thrilled to experience firsthand the culture, people and traditions of one of the countries she has been studying in her AP French class.

“Trips like these are important for Collegiate students because they show us a new culture,” she said. “And I’ll be able to speak, and hopefully improve, my French in a completely new environment, which is exciting!”

In February, as part of Collegiate’s yearlong International Emerging Leaders - Americas Senior Capstone class, students will participate in the International Youth Symposium in Mexico with Collegiate partner school Carol Baur. In March, students will visit Collegiate’s partner school in Venice, Italy, and participate in a Model UN debate. Later that month, students involved in the yearlong International Emerging Leaders - Asia Senior Capstone class will travel to China.

“When our students leave Collegiate for our international programs, they are experiencing school a different way,” said Director Global Engagement and Inclusion Erica Coffey. “They have the opportunity to discover, explore, question and experience.”
