Collegiate Students attend Emerging Leaders Institute Program for Inclusion

For one week this summer, five Collegiate students, nominated by their peers or a faculty member, represented the School at the Harold M. Marsh, Sr. Connections Institute, sponsored and run by the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities.
Over the five-day conference, held from July 31-Aug. 4, the students focused on the topics of human relations, diversity appreciation and bias reduction. Student teams developed strategies to work with administrators and peers to implement programs aimed at reducing conflict, improving communication and understanding, and creating more welcoming school communities. Upon returning to School, students worked together to implement the action plan they created while at the Institute.

Collegiate alum Eli Bowles ʼ14 served as a mentor for the delegates, who included Donald Adams, Joseph Ascoli, Charlotte Marshall, Jensen Richardson and Shreya Sharma.
