What better way to learn a foreign language than to interact and speak with those who use it as their first language. Collegiate teacher Val Siff uses video conferencing to bring France to her classroom.
World Language classes prepare students to connect with people throughout the world - and that requires more than just book learning and verb conjugations. It requires the confidence and skill to engage native speakers in conversation. In her Advanced Placement French class, Val Siff uses video conferencing to regularly provide her students the opportunity to speak with a French native. She notes, “In conversations with Madame Gadron, my students develop both an ease of expression as well as a sense of French culture that they just couldn’t get without getting on a plane.”
