Celebrating Student-Athletes on their College Commitments

Collegiate School’s Associate Director of Athletics Andrew Stanley, coaches, teammates and families gathered in the Craigie Boardroom of Sharp Academic Commons to celebrate five student-athletes from the Class of 2022 for their commitment to continuing their careers as NCAA athletes. Congrats, Cougars! You make us proud.

J.B. BELL, BASKETBALL, MARYMOUNT UNIVERSITY

“We could not be more proud of James. It’s his humility, his character and strong family that helped lead us to number two in the prep league, winning in the first round of the state tournament and an overall great all-conference year. Marymount is getting an outstanding, high-character young man that represents all our values here at Collegiate and we could not be more proud and happy. And we wish you the best.”

-Del Harris, Head Coach

MACKENZIE FERGUSON, SWIM AND DIVE, COLGATE UNIVERSITY

“We watched Mackenzie as one of our fastest swimmers from 7th Grade to Senior year, but I think for me as a coach what has meant the most is watching her as a leader this year, taking over the captain’s seat. It was special watching her instill that love of swimming for a lot of kids.”

-Mike Peters, Head Coach

DALTON JOBE, SWIMMING, WASHINGTON AND LEE

“Dalton has been one of our quietest leaders. He is a man of few words but carries lots of excitement in the pool. Each year I would watch Dalton step up from an age group swimmer to a varsity swimmer to this year being the co-state swimmer of the year and the co-prep league swimmer of the year. The amount of work he has put in both in and out of the pool has led him to this success and I wish him the best of luck at Washington and Lee.”

-Mike Peters, Head Coach

CHRISTIAN MAYR, SWIMMING, JOHNS HOPKINS

“Christian has been such a special part of our team. He was the youngest on our 400 free relay when we broke the state record four years ago, and then he finished off the 400 free relay as a Senior. It was very fitting. I consider him one of our strongest leaders. For Christian I am so proud of him and so happy for him as he embarks on his journey at Johns Hopkins. He has worked really hard for this.”

-Mike Peters, Head Coach

IAN QUINDOZA, TRACK AND FIELD, RHODES COLLEGE

“Ian has been a major part of our program over the last five years. He is a committed Collegiate athlete. Whatever it takes, Ian makes it happen. He will be a great addition to the Rhoades track and field family and I wish him all the best.”

- Matthew Richardson, Head Coach
