Celebrating Student-Athletes on their College Commitments

Collegiate Athletic Director Karen Doxey, coaches, teammates and families gathered in the Craigie Boardroom of Sharp Academic Commons to celebrate six student-athletes from the Class of 2022 for their commitment to continuing their careers as NCAA athletes. Congrats, Cougars! You make us proud.

Lauren Lucy, Track & Field, University of Miami

She is the hardest worker on the team when you look at how she bounces around from event to event. She really tries to get all of her teammates to improve their skills, and she is always so positive. We are really proud of her going to Miami next year. She's going to be a gamechanger down there too. We are so proud of her."

-Brent Miller, Head Coach

Owen Fallon, Football, Denison University

“Next-level dedication and commitment are two words that could not be more true for Owen Fallon. He transformed himself. He set the example for everyone else that was in the program. It was impressive how he made himself the football player that he is. As much as Owen has that leadership on the field, it is his leadership that he brought away from football to the team that is truly instrumental. I am thankful for all that Owen has brought to the program and I know that he is going to do great things next year at Denison.”

-Mark Palyo, Head Coach

Eric McDaniel, Baseball, Mary Washington University

“This is the culmination of a lot of years of hard work. Eric has done a fantastic job his whole career. He has always been a tireless worker, which is something that is incredibly important to him. That work ethic, resilience and grit that he shows every day has provided him this opportunity to play at the next level. I have no doubt you are going to be successful. We are so very proud of you, and we are excited for your next journey.”

-Andrew Slater, Head Coach

Pearse Riendeau, Baseball, DePauw University

“I’m proud of the maturation Pearse has shown. I strongly believe your best baseball is ahead of you. You keep getting better, which is really exciting to watch. Your work ethic, your determination, your grit and perseverance are going to serve you really well at the next level. Continue to grind, continue to work hard. You are going to do great things up at DePauw, and we are so excited for you.”

-Andrew Slater, Head Coach

D’yan Robinson, Golf, Christopher Newport University

“D’yan has been a rock-steady performer during her time playing at Collegiate. She is somebody that shows a different level of dedication, which has always been laser-focused. Thank you so much for everything that you have done. You are going to do a great job at Christopher Newport.”

-Jeff Dunnington, Head Coach

Amanda Tan, Field Hockey, Washington and Lee University

“Amanda is such a hard worker. She showed up every day, she was present, she tried new things, she stayed with her plan and she became a solid midfielder that was always going to be tenacious on defense. With her mental fortitude, athletic ability and consistent work ethic there was never any doubt that Amanda would succeed.”

-Karen Doxey, Head Coach and Athletic Director
