COVID-19 Update from Collegiate School

November 14, 2020

Dear Collegiate Families,

Yesterday, Governor Northam announced new statewide measures in response to COVID-19. While there are new limitations and requirements, schools are allowed to continue operating. Collegiate will remain open for on-campus learning following the guidelines laid out in our Reopening Plan, which already meet the new regulations. As always, we continue to monitor the health of our community with our COVID-19 dashboard and ongoing dialogue with national, state and regional advisors and medical consultants.

We are grateful for our community’s commitment to health and safety. The steadfast dedication of our students, faculty, staff and families to our Responsible Cougar Pact, both on and off campus, will allow us to maintain our in-person learning experience and support those learning remotely.

Monday begins week twelve of on-campus learning. The faculty and staff and your children are teaming to uphold our protocols at school. It remains critical for everyone to stay safe off campus, and to stay home if not feeling well. We recognize that personal sacrifices are necessary for us to share community and keep each other healthy. For COVID-19 symptoms and more information, please see our Reopening Plan

Just yesterday, when interacting with some of our youngest and oldest learners, Cougars large and small voiced their thankfulness for being on campus - and gratitude for the ongoing efforts of their parents and the School to keep this model intact. In conversations with families, both returning and new to Collegiate, you share an appreciation for the Collegiate community and the preservation of our in-person learning option.

We thank you and acknowledge that this privilege takes every one of us to cover, clean and keep space between. As we look ahead, I point you to the CDC’s advice for upcoming holiday celebrations and gatherings, which also includes travel advice. I remain grateful for every single one of you and am keeping your families close to my heart and on my mind. During this season of Thanksgiving, may we reflect on all for which we are grateful. In addition, I hold those suffering in mind, body or feelings very close. Once again, thank you for your understanding, patience and commitment to the Collegiate community through this changing landscape and need to keep each other healthy during the challenges of COVID-19.

Warmly,

Penny B. Evins
