Collegiate Mentoring Program Begins Third Year

Sixteen Collegiate School students this week are participating in Trailblaze, a job shadowing program established to connect rising seniors with professional experiences beyond the classroom.
Trailblaze pairs Collegiate students with alumni, parents and community partners to discover career inspirations and aspirations in the following areas: architecture and engineering; art education; entrepreneurship; hospitality; law; medicine/health care; marketing and communications; nonprofit/public service; real estate; and technology.

The two-week program (June 8-19), now in its third year, revamped its format from in-person to remote due to COVID-19. The program invites students to conduct Zoom interviews with Collegiate alumni and parents, and to create podcasts from the interviews.

Even with the shift in format, student, parent and alumni interest remained strong and consistent, said Trina Clemans, Collegiate’s Director of Economic and Entrepreneurship Education, who helped facilitate the program.

“Though much different than originally designed, the Trailblaze remote program provides students with the opportunity to learn from mentors and share with colleges, universities and future employers personal growth, achievements and products made in the midst of an uncertain time,” she said.
