Collegiate Alums Share Expertise and Perspective

Several Collegiate School alums recently shared their skills and perspectives remotely with fellow alums, faculty members and parents.
Harry Wilson '01 and Trevor Moawad, co-founders of Limitless Minds, hosted a webinar and live Q&A for 100 participants on May 7. The duo discussed the concept of psychological immunity and the power of neutral thinking, and the impact on elite athletes, coaches, teams, and organizations. The two also talked about how both psychological immunity and the power of neutral thinking correlate to business and life, especially during the unique and uncertain time of COVID-19.

In attendance was Collegiate Head of School Penny B. Evins who asked Harry, If people feel heard, can that change their mindset? He answered, “The more people are heard, the more buy-in they have and can make an impact.”

Mrs. Evins expressed her gratitude, saying, "Thank you for keeping Cougars close to your heart. As Head of School, I want our alumni to know that the faculty and staff and current Cougars are a source of hope and a community craving their involvement during this challenging time."

That evening, Elisabeth Arnold Weiss '86, an educator and a leader in K-12 STEM education and college-level, service-learning initiatives; and Mike Henry '84, a voice actor, writer, producer and comedian, hosted a Zoom meeting during which they discussed their professional collaborations and how Collegiate instilled a strong foundation of values to prepare them to deal with all kinds of people, situations and opportunities.

Mike specifically talked about how the School’s honor system and high bar set in academics and opportunities to play team sports build a great character foundation, pushing students to strive for excellence. Elizabeth credited her passion for teaching at USC to Collegiate, where, she said, she learned from the best.
