Collegiate Taps Seasoned Educator For Leadership Team

Collegiate School has selected a veteran independent school administrator and educator to serve as its Associate Head of School for Admission and Enrollment Management. Scott Smith will begin his tenure at Collegiate on July 1, 2020, after a lengthy stint at The Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida.
Collegiate Head of School Penny B. Evins announced Mr. Smith’s appointment earlier today and expressed excitement for the expertise and humanity he’ll bring to the role.

“Scott will bring a breadth of experience in all areas of school life and a thirst for learning about all things Collegiate,” Mrs. Evins said. “His humility, sense of humor and proven leadership are standout characteristics that will serve the Collegiate community well.”

Mr. Smith has served Bolles School since 2003, previously holding the role of Associate Head of School/Academic Dean before assuming his current role of Dean of Admission and Financial Aid. Prior to his tenure at Bolles, he served as Academic Dean of The Lovett School in Atlanta for 11 years.

Mr. Smith’s work in independent schools began at Charlotte Latin School in Charlotte, N.C. and took him to Ravenscroft School in Raleigh, N.C. He has served as a math department chair, teacher and coach, and taught in the higher education community at the graduate level with a focus on technology for teachers.

He pursued doctoral coursework at Georgia State in Instructional Technology and received his MA M.Ed. from Harvard Graduate School and his B.S. from Davidson College in Mathematics (Cum Laude) with a Secondary School Teaching Certificate.

Mr. Smith said he has admired Collegiate for decades, and he, his wife, Darcy, and their three adult children, are eager to know the School better.

“Darcy and I are deeply honored and extremely excited to be joining the Collegiate community,” Mr. Smith said. “I look forward to working with the School’s strong team of faculty and staff in continuing to enroll and support children whose lives will be forever changed for the better because of their journey through Collegiate.”
