The Social Institute Provides Tools to Navigate Social Media

Collegiate School will welcome on Monday Laura Tierney, founder of The Social Institute, who will speak to Middle and Upper School parents about ways to navigate the increasingly complicated social media landscape.
Ms. Tierney, founder of The Social Institute, is a former four-time Duke University All-American and a digital native, who also will talk to Middle and Upper School students on Tuesday during their assemblies.

Monday evening at 7 p.m. in Oates Theater, she will present Empower Our Children to Navigate Social Media and Technology in Positive, High Character Ways, during which she will share with parents what students will learn, as well as other best practices and tech tips, including how to install the safest privacy settings and details about the most popular apps students use and how.

“As we continue to partner with parents to deliver our mission and cultivate responsible citizenship in the digital age, we hope you will attend this important parent education program,” said Penny Evins, Collegiate’s Head of School. “The Social Institute session will facilitate our growth and shared understanding of what it means to be a digital citizen and help us keep our students safe and thoughtful online.”
