Collegiate Seniors Bond With “Their” Kindergartners

In one of Collegiate School’s most beloved traditions, seniors in the Class of 2020 met their Class of 2032 Kindergarten buddies this morning for the first time on Grover Jones Field, beginning a lasting friendship.
The two classes of students connect throughout the year, and seniors serve as the Kindergartners’ role models. At today’s meetup, it was hard to see who enjoyed it more.

“The seniors are just as excited as the Kindergartners,” said Debbie Miller, Head of the Lower School. “This tradition is so sweet and precious. It’s an enduring relationship.”

Collegiate 12th Grader Gwen Lynch recalled meeting her senior when she was in Kindergarten. She expressed her enthusiasm about the chance to bond with her young Cougar buddy.

“It’s so exciting to meet the younger generation,” she said. “I’m looking forward to seeing her throughout the year.”
