4th Grade Capstone Students Report on Earth Day

Today is Earth Day, and some 4th Graders talked with one of our groundskeepers, Robyn Hartley, about her work on our campus, with plants and trees. Mrs. Hartley received a degree in horticulture from Virginia Tech.
At first she talked about weeding and handpicking, and about how sometimes you don't get all of the roots.

She likes her job because she likes to smell the flowers.

She also likes her job because she gets to help everyone at Collegiate see how beautiful plants are.

Thank you Mrs. Hartley, for keeping Collegiate clean and beautiful!

(EDITOR'S NOTE: This story and the accompanying photos were produced by the 4th Grade Capstone Communications group. Collegiate offers Capstone programs in the final year of each division of the School — 4th Grade, 8th Grade and 12th Grade — to create opportunities and challenges for students that help prepare them for the future. All 4th Graders are participating in small groups that visit various departments around campus to learn more about how they serve the School and help students thrive. This year's focus area is sustainability.)
