Entrepreneurship Club Visits Federal Reserve Bank

Collegiate Middle School students in the Cougar Entrepreneurship Club visited the Federal Reserve Bank in downtown Richmond to learn more about the history of the Federal Reserve, its central bank functions and its role in the economy and key economic events in U.S. history.
Students were fascinated by the tools once used to make coins and print paper currency, as well as the efforts taken to secure cash and gold prior to the existence of modern security systems.

The highlight of the tour was witnessing the Federal Reserve cash operations in action. Students watched as employees, with the help of sophisticated modern machinery, worked to ensure the quality and integrity of notes in circulation, as well as meet the demand for cash by financial institutions.
