Collegiate Celebrates Retiring Faculty Members

Collegiate School honored 11 faculty members for their service this afternoon in the Sharp Academic Commons as they head into retirement at the end of this school year.
Faculty, staff, alumni, parents, family and friends gathered in the Estes Cafe as Head of School Steve Hickman reflected on what these 11 individuals and their combined 255 years of service have meant to the School.

Leaving Collegiate are: Allen Chamberlain, head Upper School librarian; Sally Chambers, Middle School counselor; Ellen Clore, Lower School science teacher; Helen Coulson, director of instrumental music; Ray Crouch, campus mail assistant; Laura Fields, Lower School assistant head; Karen Hurd, Lower School technology teacher; Robert Moore, Physical Plant assistant director; Holly Smith, Lower School art teacher; Stojan Yerkic, custodian; and Zrinka Yerkic, custodian.

“This is one of Collegiate’s most beloved celebrations,” Mr. Hickman said, “but it is bittersweet as we say our goodbyes to these people who changed our School and touched our souls.”

Mr. Hickman then spoke about each honoree and described just some of their many accomplishments and contributions to the School.

“These folks are the real deal and they will be missed,” he said.
